Charity-Mail provides a web-based email service with a twist. The twist, in this case, is that all of the service's profits are donated to charitable organizations. Not only that, but the text links that appear as footers in each of your emails will not promote commercial services, but your favorite charities.

EveryoneMail.net offers free, lifetime web-based email accounts that reflect your personality. Choose from thousands of domains in over 18 topical categories to create YourName@YourFavoriteSubject.com.

Freebie Crawler Mail gives avid freebie-hunters a truly unique email address and web-based email account, complete with 3MB of message space and all the usual perks. Although this account can be used for anything you like (except spamming, of course), it could come in especially useful when filling out all those freebie request forms that require you to enter your email address. Your email address will be yourname@all-4-free.zzn.com.

Geocities gives away free email addresses with their free web hosting service.

Hotmail is hands-down the most popular provider of free email on the Web. Their system allows you to have a Web-based email account that has a number of benefits associated with it. You don't even need to own your own computer or Internet connection - because you can access it from school/Uni/business...in fact, anywhere! Once you have signed up, you are given a special password and username that enables you to send and read your email from any computer with Internet access.

Jaydemail is an online email service provided by the tech-savvy folk who run the Jayde Online Directory. This web-based service includes all the regular features you might expect from the biggies, but its lower popularity increases your chances of finding the username you desire.

Lycos Mail is a great free web-based email service managed by the folks from Terra Lycos. Features include spam controls (which help you to eliminate the clutter), 5MB of storage space and a personalised address book.

Mail.com provides its users with what are undoubtedly some of the most valuable, and most memorable, domain-name email addresses. Choose from more than 50 domain extensions, including @email.com, @mail.com, @cutey.com, @europe.com and @usa.com. This free service, launched by NBCi but now operating independently, also features a clear, multi-faceted web-based control center.

My Own Email offers users the choice of either a web-based hosted account or an email forwarding account that effectively allows you to improve your current email address, while receiving your mail in your usual account. For either type, users have the choice of more than 200 domain names to end their customized address.

NewMail claims to be the "first International web-based email" provider. Their web-based accounts are also readily available through POP access.

PerfectMail offers free web-based email accounts, complete with spam filters and POP3 support, allowing you to use the email address independently, while optionally also receiving mail from your ISP account from anywhere.

Postmark.net is one of the newer providers of free web-based email. They are offering a free lifetime email address that is accessible from any web browser. Some of their features include 10MB storage space, HTML support, spam filtering, easy subscription to online magazines, and more.
