is hands-down the most popular provider of free email on the Web. Their system allows you to have a Web-based email account that has a number of benefits associated with it. You don't even need to own your own computer or Internet connection - because you can access it from school/Uni/business...in fact, anywhere! Once you have signed up, you are given a special password and username that enables you to send and read your email from any computer with Internet access.
Jaydemail
is an online email service provided by the tech-savvy folk who run the Jayde Online Directory. This web-based service includes all the regular features you might expect from the biggies, but its lower popularity increases your chances of finding the username you desire.
Lycos Mail
is a great free web-based email service managed by the folks from Terra Lycos. Features include spam controls (which help you to eliminate the clutter), 5MB of storage space and a personalised address book.
